Stephanie Simpson
STEPHANIE SIMPSON is a contemporary and musical theatre choreographer and performing artist. She received her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography at Smith College in Northampton, MA where she was also a teaching fellow at the college and guest artist at Mount Holyoke College. Previously, Stephanie lived in Los Angeles where she was a member of two modern dance companies, Intersection Dance Project and Louise Reichlin & Dancers. Along with touring throughout Southern CA, she led many workshops and was commissioned to choreograph an original piece for IDP. In addition, Stephanie performed with a variety of theatres working with several Broadway veterans including Jon Engstrom and Mark Knowles. She even dabbled in the commercial dance scene as a back-up dancer for several up and coming pop artists. Stephanie has choreographed over 30 musicals on both the east and west coasts. She has been a guest artist/choreographer for the Theatre Department at Elmira College in NY, multiple public and private High Schools in Los Angeles and CT, a recipient of an NAACP Award for Best Choreography for "Ragtime: The Musical" and nominee for an NAACP Award for Best Choreography for "Dreams in Variation." Stephanie was a scholarship student at Jacob’s Pillow’s Jazz/Musical Theatre Dance program directed by Chet Walker. In addition, she has worked with other great artists including Billbob Brown, Brad Musgrove, Bill Hastings, Patricia Wilcox, Katie Martin, Crystal Gipe Nilsson, Cat Wagner, and Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp. Stephanie has been on faculty at Central Connecticut State University, The Hartt School, and Elms College. Currently, she is developing the dance program at Riverdale Country School in NYC, is the dance coach for My College Audition, and is a co-founder/artistic director of Reject Dance Theatre.
